Conférence – « Where Geomatics Meets Geoscience » 2nd Virtual Geoscience Conference (VGC 2016), Bergen, Norway

Les 22 et 23 septembre 2016 se tiendra la 2nde édition de la conférence Virtual Geoscience Conference (VCG) à Bergen, Norvège.

Le thème principal de la conférence sera la collaboration multidisciplinaire, et la tendance actuelle de la convergence des recherches en géomatique, visualisation, la 3D et la réalité virtuelle ainsi que la réalité augmentée, qui sont toutes entrain de se combiner avec des applications en geosciences pour donner naissance à des nouvelles et intéressantes possibilités d’analyses.

1. Method developments
Focuses on innovations in acquisition and processing of 3D datasets, new sensors, devices and platforms, and integration of different techniques. This revolves around technology development (hardware and software).

  • Laser scanning (lidar) & novel 3D mapping sensors
  • Photogrammetry/structure from motion (SfM)
  • Sensor integration (multi/hyperspectral, radar, thermal, geophysical)
  • Novel platforms (UAVs)
  • Mobile & real-time computing

The 2nd Virtual Geoscience Conference (VGC) will be held in Bergen, Norway, 22-23 September 2016.

The conference main theme is all about multidisciplinary collaboration, and a recent trend is the general convergence of research in geomatics (spatial science), visualisation, computer vision and graphics, as well as virtual and augmented reality, which are filtering into geoscience applications to give new and exciting analysis possibilities.

Colloque – Eurographics 2016, Mai 2016, Lisbonne

Du 9 au 13 mai 2016 aura lieu la 37e conférence de l’Association Européenne d’infographie numérique à Lisbonne.

Cette conférence concerne l’infographie numérique, depuis les techniques pour construire un mesh ou sur la reconstruction des surfaces jusqu’aux techniques photoréalistes, mais aussi l’animation 3D ou les simulations de phénomènes naturels.

La conférence se tiendra au FIL Conference Center, Parque das Nações.

From May, 9th to 13th 2016 will be held the 37th conference of the European Association for Computer Graphics at Lisbon.

This conference continues a series of conferences organized by the Eurographics Association covering the wide field of computer graphics, from applied geometry techniques of meshing and surface reconstruction to photorealistic techniques (e.g., path tracing), as well as computer animation and simulation of natural phenomena.

The venue of the 37th Eurographics conference will be held at FIL Conference Center, Parque das Nações, one mile away from the Lisbon airport, superbly located in the Parque das Nações, where the EXPO’98 took place, facing the riverfront of Lisbon.

Full Time Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher Position (ESR) – CYPRUS UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (CUT)

Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), Department of Electrical and Computer Enginnering and Informatics is offering a full Time Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher Position (ESR) in the field of New techniques for data storage and archiving of massive and complex amounts of 2D/3D/4D Cultural assets.
Applications are invited from candidates who possess the necessary qualifications in order to fill one full time Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher (ESR) Fellow Position in the Digital Heritage Research Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT)
in the research fields of 2D/3D/4D Digitalization (automated methodologies for 2D and 3D data acquisition: photogrammetry, Laser Scanning, depth camera sensors, SfM etc.), Computer Vision (Image processing, geometric invariant visual features,
data-preprocessing/filtering, Pattern recognition), Computer Graphics (modeling), Metadata enrichment for tangible and intangible Cultural Heritage, Big Data
and Cloud Computing applications.
The selected Marie Curie ESR will work for 19 months within the ITN-Digital Cultural Heritage (ITN-DCH) Marie Curie ITN Programme which, is the only EU funded programme bringing together fourteen (14) leading European Institutions as full partners and nine (9) other as associated partners in a transnational network, aiming at implementing a multidisciplinary and intersectorial research and training programme between the academic and the industrial partners.
The Applicant should:
1.Have completed at least a four or five year education cycle (e.g. Diploma in
Engineering, Master’s Degree etc) from a recognized university in Geomatics, Computer-/ Electrical Engineering Computer Science and/or Surveying Engineering with less than four (4) years of continuous full-time research experience in the above fields, with excellent programming skills and very good language and communication /
implementation skills
2.At the time of recruitment, not have resided (or carried out his/her main activity e.g.
work, studies, etc.) in Cyprus, for more than 12 months in the last 3 years
immediately prior to the reference recruitment date.
3.Excellent knowledge of the English language at a proficiency level (spoken and written)
