    He will present « Delivering and using 3D models on the web: are we ready?« 
  • Herbert Maschner is Executive Director of Center for Virtualization and Applied Spatial Technologies (CVAST) at the University of South Florida. He also holds tenured Professorships in the USF Department of Anthropology and the School of Geosciences.
    He will present « Building a Global Virtual Archaeology Data Network: Tampa, Paris, La Mancha, and Beyond.« 
  • Pedro Santos has been Head of the Competence Center for Cultural Heritage Digitization since 2012. Before he was Deputy Head of the Department of Industrial Applications, today Department of Interactive Engineering Technologies.
    He will present « 3D mass digitization: a milestone for archeological documentation ».

Call for sessions – CAA2017, Atlanta, 14-16 March 2017

The call for sessions  will remain open until the 26th of August.  Please go to the OCS website to log-in and submit your session abstract.  The link above should take you directly to the submission page.  You can also click on the Submissions/Registration tab above.  You will need to log-in, go to User Home, click on CAA 2017 and then look for the Submission link at the bottom of the page under the Conference Information header.

There are three different session formats that you can choose from – 1) “Other” – this is an open format that is at the discretion of the session organizer(s).  The CAA International Scientific Committee is encouraging creative new session formats to create a dynamic environment for sharing projects and ideas.  We ask that the session organizer(s) include a short description of what the session format would look like.  This could include sessions that have short presentations accompanied by posters or digital posters followed by an open discussion or the session could be focused on actively solving a digital archaeology problem.  It is important to stress, that individuals participating in these alternative formats will still have a chance to submit a paper for inclusion in the published proceedings. 2) “Roundtable/Panel” – this is a session format where the session organizer(s) present a position paper in advance of the conference and invite participants to discuss the topic in an open format.  3) “Standard Session” – this is your typical session that is composed of 15 or 25 minute papers presented by the participants.

Each session organizer(s) has 500 words including session title, author names, affiliations, and email addresses and 3 – 5 keywords.  Organizers of “Other” sessions are given 600 words so that they can describe the session format.  Please indicate the corresponding author if there is more than one organizer.  Remember, the official language of the conference is English and all submissions should be in English.  If English is not your first language, it is strongly suggested that you have a fluent English speaker review your abstract before submission.

Call for papers – 22nd International Conference on Virtual Systems & Multimedia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Du 17 au 21 octobre 2016 aura lieu la 22e conférence internationale sur les Systèmes Virtuels et Multimédia, VSMM à Kuala Lumpur en Malaisie.
La conférence sera organisée par l’université de Sunway, le Centre for Research Creation in Digital Media (CRCDM), la Faculty of Arts et la Faculty of Science and Technology.

Le thème principal de la conférence de 2016 sera “Transdisciplinary – Transmedia – Transformations ”, ce qui regroupe de nombreux sujets tels que :

La date limite de soumission est le 16 mai 2016.

Workshops :

Une proposition courte (maximum 1.000 mots) devra être proposée avant le 6 juin 2016. Elle incluera un titre, un résumé, préciser la durée (journée complète ou demi-journée) et le nombre maximum de participants, les motivations, une courte description du matériel requis, les informations pour contacter les organisateurs et un court CV de chaque organisateurs du workshop.

Sessions spéciales :

Les propositions devront être envoyées avant le 6 juin 2016. Elles incluront un titre, une justification logique, les grandes lignes de la session, les informations pour contacter les présidents de session, et des informations sur les auteurs ayant accepté de présenter dans cette session avec un titre et un résumé d’article (maximum 3.000 mots).

Workshops

A brief proposal (up to 1,000 words) should be submitted by Monday, 6th June 2016 (12pm KL Standard Time UTC+08:00). Proposals must include a title, an outline of the Workshop (half day or full day, maximum number of participants) and its motivations, a short description of the material required, contact information and a CV for each presenter.

Special Sessions

Proposals for Special Sessions should be submitted by Monday, Monday, 6th June 2016 (12pm KL Standard Time UTC +08:00). Proposals must include a topical title, rationale, session outline, contact information for the Session Chair(s) and include information on authors who have agreed to present a paper in the session with a tentative title and short abstract for each paper (maximum submission length of 3,000 words).

Call for Papers – 8th edition of Arqueológica 2.0, September 2016, Valencia

Du 5 au 7 septembre 2016 aura lieu la 8e édition de la Conférence internationale Arqueológi.0ca 2 à Valence, Espagne.

Le thème principale de la conférence sera ‘Advanced 3D documentation, modelling and reconstruction of cultural heritage objects, monuments and sites’.

Chercheurs, professeurs, archéologues, architectes, ingénieurs, historiens de l’Art et toutes les autres professions autour de l’archéologie, infographie et géomatique s’occupant du Patrimoine Culturel sont invitées pour partager leur savoir et leurs expériences autour de l’archéologie numérique et virtuelle.

Les auteurs peuvent contribuer de différentes façons :
1. Article scientifique examiné par des pairs : présentation de 5 pages minimum (basée sur le MS Word Arqueologica2016_Template_DOI). L’écrit doit présenter un travail de recherche remarquable et innovant. Après examen, il sera attribué une place de présentation orale ou de poster à votre article (avec au moins 2 examinateurs par article).
2. Travaux en cours : article court jusqu’à 3 pages, images incluses (basé sur le MS Word Arqueologica2016_Template). L’article doit présenter un projet en cours avec des résultats initiaux très intéressants. Ils prendront la forme de posters. Ils seront publiés dans les actes sous la forme du livre « Work in Progress » et seront inclus dans la clé USB du congrès.

3. They should report innovative and outstanding research works and activities. They will be assigned to oral or poster presentations after a review process (at least 2 reviewers per paper).
2. Works in progress: Short papers up to 3 pages (based on the MS Word Arqueologica2016_Template) with figures. They should report on-going projects with some initial but interesting results. They will be assigned to poster presentations. All the short papers will make up the ‘Work in Progress’ book and will be included in the USB of the congress.

All papers in 1 & 2 will be submitted in English (although Spanish is also accepted). Online submission webpage

3. Showcases (Demo sessions): participants from academia, research institutes and companies are invited to show and demonstrate their tools, programmes and developments during Demo Sessions which will be included in the technical program.
