  • Geology (including petroleum geology): sedimentological mapping, reservoir analogues
  • Structural geology: fracture mapping and network modelling
  • Geomorphology: characterisation of surface processes
  • Natural hazards: rockfalls, landslides, coastal erosion
  • Glaciology/cryosphere: glacier front monitoring
  • Volcanology: lava flow mapping, crater modelling, laboratory methodsHydraulics/through-water mapping
  • Climate/environmentInfrastructure: tunnelling, railway, roads

The 2nd Virtual Geoscience Conference (VGC) will be held in Bergen, Norway, 22-23 September 2016.

The conference main theme is all about multidisciplinary collaboration, and a recent trend is the general convergence of research in geomatics (spatial science), visualisation, computer vision and graphics, as well as virtual and augmented reality, which are filtering into geoscience applications to give new and exciting analysis possibilities.

The palace is an historical place not very known to the turists, and the project « Palazzo San Teodoro experience » will try to show the works of Art in the palace as a begining to a journey in the past with virtual reality.
The century chosen for the experience is the XVIIIth century for a journey in five phases through napoletan landscapes and streets, between History, Art, immersion and imagination.

The project followed a non invasive philosophy: to unite Art and technology whithout altering the monument itself, but to let the evocative force of the place to serve as a link between the place and virtual reality.
The display tool used is Samsung’s Gear VR, which is using a smartphone to display virtual reality (so with some graphics limits). Offical foto album here.

The project will start on Dicember, 28, 2015, and is supported by Tecno Srl and was realised by a young napoletan company Apptripper Srl.
