Summerschool – Acquiring and post-processing 3D data in Anthropology and Archaeology, Bologna, 26 –30 June 2017

From June 26th to 30th will be held in Bologna (Italy) the summer-school in “ACQUIRING AND POST PROCESSING 3D DATA IN ANTHROPOLOGY AND ARCHAEOLOGY”

It is suitable for undergraduate/graduate students, PhD students, post-doctorates in the field of anthropology, archaeology, medicine and dentistry who are interested in developing basic, but fundamental, skills in 3D data acquisition and post processing.

The participant will learn different kinds of technologies for 3D data acquisition (e.g., surface scans, X-ray computed tomography – CT), methods for post processing surface data and segmenting/visualizing image data from (micro)-CT sources to create 3D digital models.

FEE:
250 € undergraduate and graduate, phd students
400 € post doc, researchers and others
(The fee includes coffee breaks and insurance premium for injuries and civil liability)

A five-year PhD assistantship in Anthropology with an emphasis in digital applications to
archaeology and history. Applicants will have a MA, MS or equivalent in Anthropology,
Archaeology, History, Digital Heritage or related discipline. Expertise in some aspects of virtualreality, augmented reality, 3Dscanning, LIDAR, or photogrammetry as applied to archaeology and digital heritage.
The Center for Virtualization and Applied Spatial Technologies (CVAST) is an interdisciplinary unit tasked with creating an integrated approach for digital research and education efforts at the University of South Florida. CVAST is also a global center for research and the application of digital techniques to science and humanities research with projects throughout Europe, Latin America,North America, and the Arctic. The successful candidate will be a Research Assistant in CVAST and will be expected to participate and contribute to the Center’s new $9.6 million Hitz Project for Advanced Virtualization, Education and the Democratization of Science.
